Kenneth McElroy and Dorris Smith McElroy
Ken and Dorris were married on June 17, 1961. Ken graduated from UVa in 1962. Dorris graduated from William and Mary in 1961. They have 4 adult children, 3 of whom are married. They have 8 grandchildren. They are both retired, but have numerous volunteer commitments. Most of their married life has been in Baltimore, but they lived several years each in Evanston, Illinois, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and Ann Arbor, Michigan. |

Dee Conwell Irwin
I attended Agnes Scott College, where I met Tom Irwin, who was at Georgia Tech. He transferred back to his home town to attend Tulsa University, so when we married after my graduation, we lived in Tulsa for 2 years. I taught Algebra 1 at Edison Junior High. We have 3 children, daughter born in Tulsa, daughter born in Columbia, MO, and son born in Radford, Va. One daughters is now a college professor at UT in Austin, other daughter is an OB-GYN in Augusta, GA, and son is a computer engineer for Microsoft, living in Cary, NC, and splitting his time between there and Seattle. I taught junior high and senior high math for 10 years off and on between having children. When 2 of our children were adolescents, and I was teaching adolescents, that was too much adolescents for me! Quit teaching and went to UVa where I got a masters degree in computer science. I worked briefly at IBM in Manassas, VA, and then finished my working career with 15 years at UVa in their IT department doing computer support, which included teaching short courses, writing documentation and answering questions on a wide variety of computer topics. In our 17 years of retirement, we mostly lived in Aiken, SC, in a golf community. We also owned 4 motor homes, living off and on in them full time while we traveled this country and Canada. Tom golfs and I ski, so we usually spend time both winter and summer in Winter Park, CO. In May, we moved into a continuing care retirement community, Bermuda Village, in the Bermuda Run golf community near Winston Salem, NC.
