Louis has become a well known entrepreneur, renovating old buildings, etc. He has his own architectural firm which has always done well. He and his wife Anita very generously sponsored two separate couples to come to the USA with visas (one from Russia, and the other from Palestine/Israel). This is not an easy thing to do PLUS they were fully responsible for anything these couples did. Louis’ oldest son Stephen runs their construction company and Louis runs his renovation firm in addition to practicing architure. Louis and Anita adopted 3 more children in addition to the four Helen and he have. He has been wonderful to their sons, taking them out of the USA many times, as many as 11 at a time. Even took their friends. His greatest achievement is becoming a faculty member of the architectural school at UVA. Helen, Louis and his wife Anita have been good friends for many years and keep in close touch. |

From Scott Broaddus: After graduation from Hampton-Sydney I went to work at the Federal Reserve as a bank examiner (because the Fed did not require having military service settled). Six months on the job and I get drafted. Following basic training, (with Wayne Ford) I was assigned to Ft. Sheridan, Il. But before that, my future wife, Marianna Christian and Wayne's future wife Jean drove down to Ft. Gordon, GA to visit. While at Ft. Sheridan, Marianna and Jean drove up to Chicago to meet me and Wayne (driving from Ft Sill, OK (I think) for a reunion. Anyway, Marianna and I married in Williamsburg almost 57 years ago now. Our family grew to one daughter and one son and now 1 granddaughter who is 20. Besides Richmond, we have lived 6 months in Illinois and 2 years in Rocky Mount, NC. |
