Following retirement, we worked at Yellowstone NP for 2 summers and have enjoyed regular traveling since. We have been active in various volunteer organizations, Red Cross Disaster Relief, Feed More, Shepherds Center of Richmond, etc. and now woodworking and quilting. Now over 80 years and counting, I am slowing down, especially whitewater canoeing and cross-country driving., but still enjoying life and reunions. Good to share and hear from classmates. |

From Dotty Council Rice: After a freshman year at Longwood, I married David Rice, a graduate of UVA serving his two years in the Navy before entering Med school). I had to have a note from my mother to present in court in Hawaii as I was underage. Following our 2 years at Pearl Harbor, we returned for 4 years in Charlottesville followed by 4 years at University of Wisconsin - finally to settle in Fredericksburg, VA. After 4 children, and 4 Universities I finally graduated from Mary Washington College class of '78 I bet I hold our class record for # of years to complete college!! Dave and I have enjoyed our years in Fredericksburg. We have been fortunate to travel to many places I would not consider going now. I will be 80 in August. In spite of having the required joint replacements and heart surgeries for our age, we still enjoy biking and hiking -skiing is in our past. We have two grandsons. One is a freshman in college and one a senior in high school. We spend as much time as possible during the spring-fall at our home in Wintergreen. There is a wonderful music festival there every year mid July-mid August. I encourage you to attend. www.wintergreenperformingarts.org Thank all of you for wonderful memories of our days at TJ. We really are the blessed generation! |

From Dee Conwell Irwin: I graduated from Agnes Scott College and moved to Tulsa, OK, after marrying Tom Irwin. He’s a couseling psychologist who spent most of his working life running job training programs won government contracts. We also lived in Columbia, MO, Blacksburg, Radford & Charlottesville before retiring to Aiken, SC. We’re now in Bermuda Run, NC, in a continuing care retirement community, Bermuda Village. I taught math for 10 years (think Miss Henna; she was my model for good teaching), sold real estate for 2 years, then got a masters degree in computer science and spent 15 years doing computer support at UVa. I help the residents here with computer issues; the issues have changed since my degree in 1984. We have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. I still jog and downhill ski, and like most of you, will hit 80 this year. |
