From Bill Durr:

From TJ went to Virginia Tech, muddled in different majors until, finally, graduating with a degree in Business.  Upon graduation married Carol Atkinson (TJ '59) and moved to Maryland to work for the National Security Agency, where I enjoyed my work until retiring in 1996.

Along the way we moved to an old townhouse in downtown Annapolis, had two children and learned to sail.  The kids led to thoughts of leaving our townhouse, sailing led to thoughts of living on the water and they both morphed into the idea that building a small marina would pull it all together and might be fun to boot.  So, in 1972 we did (www.hammockisland.com) and still do.

The kids grew and had kids of their own, one grand-daughter and two grand-sons.  Carol taught fourth grade while in Annapolis, manages the marina, was a freelance calligrapher and dabbles in art.  I mess around with boats; sailing, restoring and building them.  Frank Lane lives nearby so we often have lunch to discuss growing old, politics and things we can't quite remember.  Carol and I also travel, often to France where she can practice her French.

We sometimes think about leaving Hammock Island, but then we watch the sun go down over the water and think...maybe next year.

From Marianne Hall Miller:

Tom and I will be celebrating our 57th anniversary next month on a big boat enjoying wine and menus someone else is serving.

We have two children: both born in Richmond and then we moved to New Jersey.  I cried and cried to leave Richmond; lived in New Jersey for about ten years; cried and cried to leave NewJersey; moved to Pennsylvania and confess that when I retired from a wonderful stint at Penn State in Human Resources, I was happy to return to Virginia and milder winters.

Son Tom, Jr., currently lives in NJ  and works in the City in some financial capacity (I haven't the vaguest idea what he does, but it seems to be ok).  He has two children, a daughter at Pitt  in pre-med and a son trying to make up his mind where he's going to school next year. Our daughter, Lucie, revisited her Virginia roots  for college at UVA. (son Tom was happy enough in Pennsylvania and went to Carnegie Mellon.) Lucie is now in  Baltimore continuing her work in development with schools, nonprofits and various art institutions.  Her daughter is a sophomore in high school. For almost 20 years we've been in the  Northern Neck--enjoying each day with our gorgeous view of the Chesapeake Bay and good health (knock wood).
