Along the way I managed to marry several times leading to two daughters and a son who have provided me the joy of grandchildren and as time progresses I hope to see great-grandchildren. My flock is spread around from Washington, DC to Denver and Portland, OR. I have found my many frequent flyer miles seem to have steadily been consumed. My last wife who attended our 60th with me sadly suffered a terminal stroke recently. Those of you who met her know her joy is missed. |

From Diana Lea Sowards: I mentioned that I might write if I had good news. For the past 34 years my husband and I have run a charity called, Friends of Burma. We have supported education, health, humanitarian, microcredit, and orphaned children inside Burma. Take a look at our website. http://www.friendsofburma.org/about/ I also do volunteer work, mostly medical management, with Burmese refugees in Ft. Wayne. That's volunteer work and really has nothing to do with Friends of Burma, it's just what I like to do. :) The good news is that we recently received a grant for $15,000 from an organization which wishes to remain anonymous. We can use it any way we like, and surprise, we were ASKED to apply for this grant. I didn't know this sort of thing happened. I have been retired for 18 years from our business which dealt in coins, bullion, and fine jewelry. It is what enabled us to start the charity. It has been great to hear all the stories from all the Tee Jay people. Thanks for doing this, Dee. |

From Bob Knight: It's been great reading the emails with classmates' "bios", so here's mine. After graduating from TJ, I enlisted in the Navy where I served on a flagship for the Commander of Middle East Forces, visiting 25 countries in four years. I guess I was a poster child for "Join the Navy and See the World". I met my wife Jane at college. We lived in Richmond as newlyweds; later we went to grad school together in Iowa and eventually ended up in Northern Virginia where we lived 45 years. I worked as an economist for HUD and Jane worked as an economist for BLS. I stayed at HUD till I retired at age 70. Jane left BLS when our twin sons were born after 17+ years of marriage. At the 30th TJ 1957 reunion, we won the prize for youngest child, as our kids were then only a year old. Jane returned to work in the private sector when the boys were in elementary school and is still working part time as an economist for the same company, forecasting the demand for energy. |
