Like many of you all, we eventually downsized and now live in a continuing care retirement community, Deerfield, in Asheville NC. We were delighted last year when fellow TJ '57 classmate John Drum and his wife Ann moved to the same community, same apartment building, same floor. Yes, we live right down the hall from one another. We are also glad to be nearer to our son Tom and his family – including our two granddaughters, age 3 and newborn – in South Carolina. Son Will and his wife live in Annapolis MD. Happily there are non-stop flights between BWI and AVL. At our retirement community, Jane and I both sing in the chapel choir and in the community chorus. Jane is on several committees and volunteers with the AARP TaxAide program, preparing income tax returns for fellow residents, employees and neighbors. She also is on the team of "Geezer Geeks" who help other residents with computer problems. Meanwhile I enjoy the history seminars, concerts and outings offered by our retirement community. We love the beauty of the surrounding mountains and often take scenic drives along the Blue Ridge Parkway which is only a couple blocks away. We keep in touch with Bill and Marcia (Minton) Keech, and with Larry and Patty (Liebert) Riddick. And we are definitely looking forward to the next TJ '57 class reunion! |
